Studying the effect of happiness levels on technology addiction of students who have been studying at universities of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus

Objective: The study aimed to analyze the effect of happiness on technology addiction with different variables among students who have been studying at different universities of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Methods: This research was descriptive one and the sample consisted of 360 participants of which were 191 women, 169 were men. The data were collected by socio-demographic information form, Technological Dependence Scale and Oxford Happiness Scale Short Form. In this research, Shapiro Wilks, t-test, Anova and correlation analyzes were performed. Results: The results showed that students who were female had significantly higher scores on techno-logy addiction than male students. In addition, students who were in romantic relationships had significantly less technology addiction than students who were single. The technology addiction scores of students who can limit their usage of technology with their own will had significantly lower scores on technology addiction than students who cannot limit their technology usage. Discussion: As hypothesized, there was a significant negative correlation between happiness and technology addiction. [Anadolu Psikiyatri Derg 2019; 20(0.200): 14-17]
