Schizophrenia is a kind of heteregenous disorder in which clinical signs and symptoms vary among different patients even in different episodes of a patient. Drugs with different pharmacological mechanisms can usually be used together to be more effective and for the treatment of different dimensions of the disease. This brings the risk of any complication that would result from combining the drugs with unexpected effect. The most important point in combining the psychothrop agents is to determine the signs of the disease that is targetted while the adjuvant therapy is started and to follow the response, and not to forget the possibility of a side-effect that is getting higher. Şizofrenide alternatif tedavi stratejileri
Şizofreni, klinik belirtileri hastadan hastaya farklı olduğu kadar, aynı hastada bile farklı hastalık dönemlerinde değişebilen heterojen bir bozukluktur. Tedavide de farklı terapötik mekanizmalara sahip ilaçların birlikte kullanımı, etkinliği artırmak ya da hastalığın farklı boyutlarına ait belirtileri tedavi etmek amacıyla sıklıkla uygulanır. Bu durum uzun süreler yararlı bir etkisi olduğu tam olarak bilinemeyen ilaçların birlikte kullanımı tehlikesini de beraberinde getirmektedir. Psikotrop ilaçların birlikte kullanımında en önemli nokta, hastalığın hangi belirtilerinin hedeflenerek ek tedavinin başlandığı ve belirtilerin bu tedaviye yanıtının izlenmesi, yan etkilerin de artabileceği riskinin unutulmamasıdır.
